On a cold and windy April 5th, Brittney Cole Pullen became the bride of Phillip Leslie Kasha. Pastor Gordon Scott of the Villisca United Methodist Church officiated at the 1:00 p.m. double ring ceremony at the Kasha Ball and Chain farm, west of Villisca. The bride was walked down the aisle by Mike Kiesel, friend of the bride's mother. The bride wore an ivory halter type wedding dress. Her ivory veil, embellished with rhinestones, was adorned with a pearl headpiece from the groom's mother, Rita, whom also made the veil. The groom was dressed in a black tuxedo. The couple chose roses and baby's breath for their flowers to coinside with their wedding colors of light blue and yellow. All attendants wore black Carhart Bib Overalls with corresponding light blue or yellow oxford shirts. The wedding party was Maid of Honor, Courtney Pullen, sister of bride, and Best Man, Andrew Herzberg, friend of the couple. Rachael DeFriese, sister of bride and Matthew Dolch, friend of couple, served as Bridesmaid and Groomsman. Ted Kasha and Ryan Pullen, brothers of the couple were ushers. Flowergirl, Breanna Smith, niece of the bride, wore an ivory lace dress with Ring Bearer, Kobe Bennett, nephew of the bride, wearing a black tux to match the groom. Also, walking in the processional were Tristan DeFriese and Xander Pullen, nephews of the bride, wearing blue denim bib overalls with light blue and yellow pinstripe shirts.

A reception was held at the Villisca Community Center. Parents of the groom made replicas of the ball and chain out at the farm on cherry wood blocks for the table centerpieces. A dance followed with DJ's Matt Dolch, Andrew and Gregg Herzberg. The guests were honored with a chorus of Phillip, Andrew and Matt.

Phillip and Brittney spent their wedding night at the "Cabin by the Creek" Bed and Breakfast outside of Red Oak. They went to Oregon for their honeymoon and were able to spend time at the ocean. Phillip and Brittney now make their home south of Villisca.
The happy couple's parents are Henry and Rita Kasha, the late Kenneth Pullen, Vicki Pullen and friend, Mike Kiesel.

Virginia Myers

Timothy Peters

Virginia Josephine Myers and Timothy Allen Peters were united in marriage on September 6, 2008 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Des Moines, IA with Father Michael Amadeo officiating the ceremony. Ginny is the daughter of Donald & Kathy Myers and the granddaughter of Wilma Myers of Villisca, IA. Tim is the son of Maxine Peters and the late Thomas Peters of Waterloo, IA. The bride was escorted to the alter by her son, Mason Jones and her father, Don Myers.

LaDonna Pafford of Villisca served as Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids were Shawna Roberts of Red Oak, Amber Mullen of Villisca, and Kat Frink of Des Moines. Chris Parker of Stanton was the bride's personal attendant.

The Best Man was Gary Lies of Waterloo. Groomsmen were Mike Peters of Marion, IN, Pat Peters of Saugus, CA and John Peters of Ventura, CA. Josh Sieglaff of Des Moines and B.J. Heath of Waterloo were ushers.

Flower Girls were Ryanne Mullen of Villisca and Katelyn Peters of Waterloo. Ringbearers were Cade Myers of Villisca and Jake Roberts of Red Oak.

Jeff Sieglaff of Des Moines and Heather Heath of Waterloo provided readings for the ceremony. Justice Myers of Villisca and Austin & Ryan Stause of Des Moines handed out programs & bubbles. Coralie Heisner of Des Moines and Sarah Mowrey of Carlisle were guest book attendants. Aleck Pafford of Villisca and Cassi Frink of Des Moines were the gift attendants.

A dinner reception and dance followed at the Johnston Lions Club in Johnston, IA with entertainment by DJ Jenny of Red Oak. The host and hostess of the reception were Jeff and Teresa Sieglaff of Des Moines. The reception servers were Kadee Myers of Villisca, Katie Peters of Ventura, CA, Mary Peters of Saugus, CA, and Janelle Peters of Marion, IN. Mary Stause of Des Moines and Cheryl Heath of Waterloo helped cut and serve the wedding cake.

The couple will continue to reside in Johnston, IA. Ginny is employed at CDS Global in Des Moines as an Up-sell Program Coordinator and Tim works for the Onnen Company in Urbandale, IA.

Kimberly Joy Nelson

Kimberly Joy Nelson and Eric Thomas Zimtbaum were united in marriage on Sat. June 28th at the Sheraton Hotel Atrium in Des Moines, Iowa with the Rev. Sandy Wainwright-Rossander officiating. A reception and dance followed in the Ballroom at the hotel.

Kim is the daughter of Bruce and Marla Nelson of Stanton, Iowa and the granddaughter of Cleone Nelson. Kim is a 1996 graduate of Stanton High School and graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor's degree in Communications and Event Planning. She is presently employed by C.H. Robinson in Phoenix, Az.

Eric is the son of Alan and Betsy Zimtbaum of Sarasota, Florida. He is a graduate of Aragon High School in San Mateo Ca.and graduated from Oregon State University. Eric presently runs an American Family Insurance Agency in Phoenix,Az.

The couple will be honeymooning in Hawaii sometime this winter and they presently reside in Phoenix, Az.

Brian Siefering and Kelly Aja were married on 08-08-08 at the historic Belhurst Castle at Geneva, NY. The double ring ceremony was performed by Judge Carol Heald. It took place at sunset on the castle lawn overlooking the beautiful Seneca Lake. Honor attendants for the bride were Shannon Ross, Gemma Abels and Jennifer Duff. Attending the groom were Christopher Kilburn-Peterson, Kevin McKenney, Kayne Matsushima, Michael Duff and Matthew Nemeth. Flower girl was Bronte Beaudoin, and ring bearer was Rafael Beaudoin, niece and nephew of the groom. Kirsten Siefering, sister of the groom read a poem by Edmund O-Neill.

The bride graduated from Beyer High School, Modesto, CA in 1995 and got her B.A. degree from The University of California at Santa Barbara in 1999. She taught in California; also was awarded her Masters in History from San Jose State University in 2006. The is now teaching World History at The Park School of Buffalo in Amherst, NY. The groom was a 1988 graduate of Villisca High School, Villisca, IA and a 1993 graduate of West Point Military Academy. He received his Masters Degree in Business/Engineering from MIT in Boston in 2005. Currently he is employed as a consultant for P.A. Consulting Firm in Washington, D.C.

Parents of the bride are Thomas and Sharlene Aja of Modesto, CA. Parents of the groom are Loren and Karen Siefering of Hereford, AZ, formerly of Villisca, IA.

Jennifer Muller

Lee Saathoff

Jennifer Muller and Lee Saathoff were united in marriage on Nov. 24, 2007 at the Noble United Methodist Church south of Lyman. The Reverends Gerald Wiser and Richard Krambeck performed the ceremony.

Parents of the couple are Wendell and Connie Muller of Massena and Arnie and Martha Saathoff of Dike.

Grandparents of the couple are Willard and Ruth Muller of Atlantic and the late Gladys Muller, Nell Fronson of Villisca and the late Harry Franson, the late Arend and Freeda Saathoff of Dike, and the late Ernest and Esther Kilege of Dike.

Jennifer is employed at MV Transportation in Elk Horn as a financial analyst and Lee is a sales representative for Pioneer Hi-Bred in the Cass County area. Lee and Jennifer reside in Atlantic.

Layla Joy Sunderman and James (Jim) Joseph Houser were married May 27th at the First Lutheran Church in Manhattan, Kansas. Officiating were Pastor Matthew Williams and Chaplain Gordon Thomas, grandfather of the bride. Parents of the bride are Dwight Sunderman of Corning, Iowa and the late Leslie Ann Sunderman. The groom's parents are Gary Houser of Wamego, Kansas and Jan Steinlage of Garland, Texas.

The matron of honor was Heidi Wickersham of Prairie Village, Kansas. Bridesmaids were Sarah Barcus of Springfield, Missouri, Terri Carlin of Iola, Kansas, and Kristyna Hoover of Adair, Iowa.

The best man was Bryce Bellinder of Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin. Groomsmen were Kelly Thompson of Kansas City, Missouri, Toby Hendricks of Alta Vista, Kansas, and Derrick Sunderman of Mason City, Iowa.

The flower girls were nieces of the groom, Madison and Haley Carlin of Iola, Kansas.

Uncle of the bride, Rev. Gregory Thomas of Seven Valleys, Pennsylvania was the vocalist and pianist. Friend of the couple, Mandy Zelle of Waverly, Iowa was the violinist.

Honored guests included grandparents of the bride, Lorraine Sunderman of Villisca, Iowa and Gordon and Janet Thomas of Adair, Iowa.

Reception hosts were Leon and Milly Hendricks of Wamego, Kansas and Paul and Anne Pankey of Hooker, Oklahoma. Reception servers were aunts of the bride, Diane Rupp of Corning, Iowa, Karla Lantz of Stanton, Iowa, Suzanne Hoover of Adair, Iowa, and Tricha Thomas of Seven Valleys, Pennsylvania. The dinner and dance were held at the Houston Street Ballroom in Manhattan, Kansas following the ceremony.

Layla is a 1996 graduate of Corning High School, a 2001 graduate of Iowa State University, and will receive her master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Rockhurst University in May 2008. She is employed by the Kansas City, Kansas School District.

Jim is a 1987 graduate of Wamego High School and a 1993 graduate of Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture. He is employed as a landscape architect for HOK Sport-Venue-Event in Kansas City, Missouri.

After the wedding, the couple honeymooned in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. They reside in Merriam, Kansas.

Stephanie Taylor

Blake Ihrke

Stephanie Taylor and Blake Ihrke were united in marriage by the Rev. Steve Moltumyr on December 28, 2007, at Community Covenant Church. A reception was held at Brookside Church, the couple's regular church.

The bride is the daughter of Nick and Carol Taylor of Omaha. She is also the granddaughter of Fredyne and the late Tom Rusk and the late Bill and Blanche Taylor.. Stephanie is earning an occupational therapy degree from Creighton University.

The groom is the son of Ben and Jan Ihrke of Omaha. Blake graduated from Alexandria Technical College in Alexandria, MN. He is employed in custom home construction. Stephanie and Blake met in junior high youth group at Brookside Church. The couple took a cruise for a honeymoon with port stops in Key West, FL., and Nassau Bahamas.
